Specialty Chemicals Company LANXESS is to increase its prices for Lewatit and Ionac ion exchange resins by up to 10 percent globally. The price increases, which will take immediate effect, are due to the increasing cost of utilities, transportation and raw materials.

The premium products of the Ion Exchange Resins business unit play an important role in industrial water treatment, food processing, the purification of water and manufacture of ultrapure water, and the remediation of contaminated areas, such as those with a high arsenic content.

The Ion Exchange Resins business unit belongs to the Performance Chemicals segment of LANXESS, which achieved total sales in 2009 of EUR 1.530 billion.
