Patel Pesticides (India) has sought the Environment and Forests Ministry?s clearance for its proposed pesticide manufacturing unit at Nandesari in Gujarat?s Vadodara district. The company wants to manufacture 100 MTPM of profenofos. The by-products will be hydrogen bromide (72.33 MTPM) and TMABr (45 MTPM).

In its presentation to the Expert Appraisal Committee of Industrial Projects of the Ministry, the company said the cost of the proposed project cost is Rs 3.5 crore.

The plot area of the project is 2,531 sq m of which greenbelt will be developed on an area of 850 sq m.

The company said it is located in the GIDC Industrial Estate in Nandesari. GIDC has all environmental infrastructures like common incinerator and common effluent treatment plant.

There will not be any major potential for negative impact on the environment due to the proposed project.

On the contrary, there will be positive impact on the socio-economic environment since the proposed project will generate some permanent and secondary employment and it will increase direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.

The increasing industrial activity will also boost up the commercial and economic status of the locality, it said.

The company will concentrate on maintaining the green belt area, water pollution control, environmental monitoring and occupational health among other things.

Since the unit is located in the GIDC Industrial Estate, there will be no major source of noise pollution from the project activity.

There are also no historical places, archaeological sites, wildlife sanctuaries or national parks within a 10 km radius from the project site.

It said it will adopt all hazard identification measures and ensure safety and provide all medical facilities to its employees.
