HyperStrong will purchase no less than 200 GWh of battery cells from CATL between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2028

Beijing HyperStrong Technology and battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL) have sealed a sweeping strategic alliance that locks in one of the largest energy-storage cell supply deals in the industry. The deal sets the stage for a decade of deepened cooperation across the global clean-energy chain.

Under this newly signed Strategic Cooperation Agreement, HyperStrong will purchase no less than 200 GWh of battery cells from CATL between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2028 — a massive volume intended to underpin HyperStrong’s accelerating rollout of grid-scale energy-storage projects worldwide.

The commitment signals mounting momentum behind global storage demand as utilities and developers race to stabilize renewable-heavy power systems.

The deal stretches far beyond raw cell procurement. The companies have also established a long-term collaboration framework running through 2035.

Each year, before December 1, HyperStrong and CATL will jointly review, update, and renegotiate rolling three-year cooperation targets through formal memorandums of understanding. The mechanism is designed to keep the partnership aligned with rapidly shifting technology, market conditions, and global deployment needs.

The two firms plan to fuse their strengths — CATL’s leadership in battery technology and manufacturing with HyperStrong’s capabilities in system integration, project development, and international market expansion — to push into new layers of cooperation.

That includes exploring industry investment funds, building an integrated platform for project development, investment, operations, and maintenance, and pursuing joint procurement of AC-system components. Together, the initiatives aim to tighten supply-chain coordination, reduce project costs, and boost deployment efficiency.

For HyperStrong, the deal marks a pivotal step in its strategy to build a multi-dimensional global energy-storage ecosystem. For CATL, it cements its role not just as a supplier but as a long-term strategic partner helping shape the next generation of global storage infrastructure.

Both companies say the alliance will sharpen their competitive edge, deepen industrial-chain synergies, and speed the maturation of the energy-storage sector.

With storage now central to the world’s clean-energy transition, HyperStrong and CATL are positioning themselves at the forefront — pledging to jointly tackle technical bottlenecks, drive industry-wide innovation, and deliver the advanced storage solutions needed to stabilize tomorrow’s low-carbon grids.
