Atul Q1 FY27 profit nearly doubles on strong chemical segment growth

Chemical major Atul Ltd reported a strong start to FY27, posting a sharp rise in profitability for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. 
 
The company’s consolidated net profit surged 91.85% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs. 253.93 crore, compared with Rs. 132.36 crore in Q1 FY26, powered by robust growth across its key chemical businesses.
 
The company’s consolidated revenue from operations jumped 25.03% YoY to Rs. 1,847.95 crore in Q1 FY27, up from Rs. 1,478 crore in the year-ago quarter. Sequentially, revenue increased 10.65% from Rs. 1,670.07 crore in Q4 FY26.
 
Total income also expanded strongly, rising 25.06% YoY to Rs. 1,881.26 crore during the quarter.
 
Atul’s profit before tax (PBT) witnessed a dramatic improvement, climbing 95.92% YoY to Rs. 346.83 crore from Rs. 177.03 crore in Q1 FY26. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, PBT increased 20.13% from Rs. 288.71 crore in Q4 FY26.
 
Profit attributable to owners of the company stood at Rs. 245.30 crore, while non-controlling interests contributed Rs. 8.63 crore.
 
Earnings per share (EPS) also strengthened significantly, with basic and diluted EPS rising to Rs. 83.32 per share, compared with Rs. 43.40 in Q1 FY26 and Rs. 71.38 in Q4 FY26.
 
Total comprehensive income for the quarter reached Rs. 375.41 crore, including Rs. 366.77 crore attributable to company owners.
 
Atul’s Performance and Other Chemicals segment emerged as the key growth engine during the quarter.
 
Segment revenue jumped 33.79% YoY to Rs. 1,427.44 crore, compared with Rs. 1,066.93 crore in Q1 FY26. Segment results more than doubled, soaring 139.83% YoY to Rs. 239.83 crore from Rs. 100 crore a year earlier.
 
The Life Science Chemicals segment also delivered steady growth, with revenue increasing to Rs. 469.23 crore from Rs. 449.20 crore in Q1 FY26. Segment results rose 35.62% YoY to Rs. 92.78 crore, though below the Rs. 143.06 crore recorded in the previous quarter.
 
Other revenue contributed Rs. 25.98 crore, while inter-segment revenue stood at Rs. 74.70 crore.
 
Atul’s consolidated expenses increased 15.61% YoY to Rs. 1,536.52 crore during Q1 FY27.
 
The cost of materials consumed rose to Rs. 1,103.00 crore, compared with Rs. 791.09 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
 
Power, fuel and water expenses remained broadly stable at Rs. 183.58 crore, while employee benefit expenses increased to Rs. 132.18 crore from Rs. 120.02 crore.
 
Depreciation and amortisation expenses stood at Rs. 78.09 crore, finance costs declined slightly to Rs. 4.02 crore, and other expenses totaled Rs. 191.53 crore.
 
The company reported a total tax expense of Rs. 92.90 crore for the quarter.
 
On a standalone basis, Atul Ltd recorded operational revenue of Rs. 1,588.60 crore, marking a 21.77% YoY increase from Rs. 1,304.56 crore.
 
Standalone profit before tax climbed to Rs. 269.85 crore, compared with Rs. 134.51 crore in Q1 FY26, while standalone net profit more than doubled, rising 105.68% YoY to Rs. 201.03 crore. Standalone EPS stood at Rs. 68.28.
