The launch responds to growing demand for non-PFAS solutions amid evolving government regulations on certain PFAS substances

Avient Corporation, a leader in materials innovation, has unveiled its new liquid additive for the Latin American market.

The liquid additive -- Hiformer Non-PFAS Process Aid with Antioxidants (AO) -- provides film packaging producers a non-fluorinated option without intentionally added PFAS, while extending Avient’s existing non-PFAS technology and adding antioxidant functionality for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) processing.

“The Hiformer Non-PFAS Process Aid AO series is a liquid additive product for PP and PE applications created to help reduce friction between the polymer and metal,” Avient said. “This can result in easier extrusion to reduce melt fracture as well as die build-up, and lower torque to support higher throughput.” The product’s liquid format allows for typical loading dosage rates of 0.1-0.5%.

Designed for both non-food and food contact applications, the additive meets relevant FDA compliance standards for food films. “By incorporating antioxidants into the process aid package, the AO series offers film manufacturers an additional option for addressing processing and performance needs within a single additive solution,” Avient added.

The launch responds to growing demand for non-PFAS solutions amid evolving government regulations on certain PFAS substances.

Avient’s offering delivers regulatory compliance without compromising performance, matching the characteristics of traditional fluoropolymer-based solutions. The AO series complements Avient’s existing non-PFAS portfolio, including Hiformer Non-PFAS PPA in Asia and parts of Europe, and Cesa solid process aids in the US.
