ASPE’s key mandate to establish closer dialogue with the EU authorities, raise awareness about the benefits of ammonium sulphate

Four leading producers of ammonium sulphate, BASF, Domo, Fibrant and Lanxess, have decided to collaborate and form Ammonium Sulphate Producers Europe (ASPE) within the aegis of Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council) in order to jointly promote the benefits of their group.

Franck Boher has been nominated for first Chair of the ASPE. The new sector group will function with key mandate to establish closer dialogue with the EU authorities and raise awareness about the benefits of ammonium sulphate to the environment and circular economy. ASPE formation is expected to be formally approved by the Cefic Board in June 2019.

Ammonium sulphate is widely used in agriculture as a key ingredient in fertilisers because of its environmental performance: it improves the availability of sulphur and nitrogen – key nutrients for plant growth – and has no negative impact on soil and water. Besides fertilisers, ammonium sulphate is used in feed, bread and bakery as an acidity regulator, and in pharmaceuticals.
