CHEMEON Surface Technology and SurTec have joined forces in a strategic alliance aimed at accelerating the global shift towards safer, high-performance surface treatment solutions—at a time when tightening regulations are forcing industries to move away from hazardous materials.

The deal links CHEMEON’s strong US presence with SurTec’s expansive international footprint, creating a transatlantic pipeline for advanced, sustainable chemistries. Under the agreement, CHEMEON will introduce selected SurTec technologies to the US market, while SurTec will take CHEMEON’s products global—backed by local expertise and established infrastructure.

At the heart of the partnership is a push to replace hexavalent chrome, a substance increasingly restricted worldwide. The alliance significantly broadens access to next-generation alternatives, including MIL-DTL 81706B qualified chemistries, CHEMEON’s patented eTCP trivalent corrosion protection—recognized by its distinctive purple/violet indicator—and the SurTec 650 series.

"This strategic alliance between CHEMEON and SurTec marks a pivotal step in our commitment to safer, more sustainable surface finishing chemistry and services," said Madylon Meiling, CEO of CHEMEON.

"By combining our innovation, experience, marketing, and sales, we're expanding access to global supply chains and accelerating the global transition from hazardous materials while delivering seamless, end-to-end solutions that enhance performance and regulatory compliance."

"This alliance strengthens our global surface treatment portfolio through a targeted collaboration with CHEMEON's US-based expertise," said Karsten Grünke, CEO of SurTec.

"By combining SurTec's broad technology portfolio and international reach with CHEMEON's proven solutions and local market know-how, we are well positioned to support customers, particularly in regions facing increasing regulatory and performance requirements."

The collaboration goes beyond distribution. SurTec’s US operations will be integrated with CHEMEON’s Center of Technical Excellence in Nevada, forming a hub for sales, advanced training, and technical development in trivalent conversion coatings and anodizing.

Teams from both companies will undergo cross-training to deliver unified customer support, while joint efforts in R&D, testing, and marketing—including webinars and trade show participation—aim to speed adoption of compliant technologies worldwide.

As regulatory pressure mounts, the CHEMEON–SurTec alliance positions both companies at the forefront of the race to replace legacy materials with cleaner, globally scalable solutions.
