Loctite MS 9650 cures through moisture reaction to form a soft, elastic yet high-strength bond
German MNC Henkel has unveiled Loctite MS 9650, a next-generation adhesive and sealant designed to meet the automotive industry’s rising demands for flexibility, durability and sustainability.
Built on silane-modified polymer technology, Loctite MS 9650 cures through moisture reaction to form a soft, elastic yet high-strength bond. The material adheres to a broad range of substrates — including glass, metal, painted surfaces and plastics — while offering strong UV resistance. Its creep behavior matches that of silicone-based adhesives and outperforms other silane-modified polymer solutions.
Crucially for manufacturers, curing time can be dramatically reduced by increasing temperature and humidity, opening the door to applications where one-component adhesives were previously ruled out due to long processing times. Curing speed varies depending on moisture, temperature and joint depth, and production can be further accelerated using Teroson MS 9371B with dynamic mixing.
With excellent vibration resistance, creep performance and UV resilience, Loctite MS 9650 is particularly well suited for automotive display components, while also supporting a wide range of industrial applications.
“At Henkel, we’re committed to delivering premium adhesive and sealant solutions designed to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the automotive sector,” said Bart Van Eeghem, Business Development Manager Automotive Electronics at Henkel.
“Loctite MS 9650 excels in automotive environments, so customers can expect long-term performance with minimal need for maintenance or replacement.”
Sustainability is central to the new product’s design. Loctite MS 9650 is silicone-free and supports low-VOC production, improving operator safety. Its zero content of isocyanates and PVC helps reduce environmental impact and waste, while its suitability for lightweight vehicle assemblies contributes to improved energy efficiency.
“Sustainability today means looking at the whole picture,” said Bart Van Eeghem. “Loctite MS 9650 supports a holistic approach to sustainability.”
