Durabio is a bioengineering plastic primarily made from plant-derived isosorbide
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) announces that its bio-based engineering plastic Durabio has been adopted for the instrument panels of "N-ONE e:," a new mini passenger EV launched by Honda Motor.
Durabio is a bioengineering plastic primarily made from plant-derived isosorbide.
Compared to conventional polycarbonate resins, it features higher transparency and superior optical properties. Being plant-derived polymer, the material is also excellent in weather resistance and durability.
Honda has adopted the material due to its excellent properties, such as achieving a glossy, high-design finish by simply mixing colorants, eliminating the coating process that was previously required, and reducing VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions during manufacturing.
MCC will continue to provide high-value-added products by expanding the Durabio lineup.
