The launch of Granuvia introduces next-generation solution designed to deliver consistent, long-term pest control
Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) has unveiled Granuvia, a next-generation insecticide positioned as a future-ready solution for two of paddy cultivation’s most destructive threats—brown plant hopper (BPH) and stem borer.
The company says Granuvia is engineered to deliver up to 60 days of control against BPH when applied at the recommended window of 30–35 days after transplanting, alongside up to two weeks of protection against stem borer (dead heart management).
Paddy farmers across India have been battling escalating pest pressure, with last season’s early and prolonged BPH outbreaks affecting millions of acres across multiple states.
According to agronomic estimates cited by the company, severe infestations can drive 20% to 60% yield losses, often forcing multiple rounds of pesticide applications. Stem borer remains another persistent threat, typically causing 10% to 30% crop damage, with “dead heart” symptoms significantly reducing plant vigor and productivity.
Commenting on the launch, Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, Managing Director, Insecticides (India) Limited, said, “With rising pest pressure and changing climatic conditions, farmers need reliable and easy-to-use solutions.
"The launch of Granuvia introduces next-generation solution designed to deliver consistent, long-term pest control while improving overall crop health and productivity. Addressing persistent challenges from key pests such as brown plant hopper and stem borer, GRANUVIATM provides sustained protection across critical growth stages.”
Dushyant Sood, Chief Marketing Officer, Insecticides (India) Limited added, “This product has been developed by Corteva Agriscience, and will be exclusively supplied to Insecticides (India) Limited under its brand name of Granuvia.
"It is positioned as a future-ready solution for modern rice farming based on the its novel action to control BPH and Stem borer. With its advanced technology, superior value delivery, proven field performance and farmer-friendly application, Granuvia is set to strengthen pest management practices and support improved productivity in India’s paddy cultivation.”
Manoj Singh Bhandari, GM & Crop Manager for Paddy, described Granuvia as “a future-ready solution for future-ready farmers.” He emphasized its granular formulation, which enables simple broadcasting—often mixed with sand or urea—making it easy to integrate into existing farming practices while reducing application effort and repeated sprays.
“This approach helps farmers safeguard yields, enhance crop vigor and achieve more reliable harvest outcomes, even amid increasing pest pressure and climate variability,” he said.
“Granuvia is recommended for application at 30–35 days after transplanting, a critical stage when paddy crops are most vulnerable to pests. Its simple broadcasting method, compatible with common farmer practices (mixing with sand or urea), makes Granuvia a distinctive solution.
"It provides up to 60 days of long-duration control against brown plant hopper (BPH) and also helps farmers manage stem borer (dead heart for up to two weeks) during this crucial growth stage.”
