Konishi has announced a major strategic move, confirming it has acquired all shares of a newly established company spun off from Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) to take over MCC’s acrylic emulsion and synthetic resin emulsion businesses. 

 

The acquisition, finalized following a February 17 board resolution, will make the new entity a Konishi subsidiary.

 

Konishi said the move aligns with its Medium-Term Management Plan 2027, aimed at expanding its business footprint across bonds, chemicals, and construction. 

 

“We have decided to acquire the shares of the Newly Established Company that will succeed to the Subject Businesses aimed at further enhancing the presence of our products in our bond business, promoting the strengthening of our technological capabilities, and achieving the sustainable growth of the Konishi Group and the strengthening of our revenue base through collaboration using the trading company functions of our chemicals business,” the company stated.

 

The acquisition targets markets where Konishi has previously struggled to compete independently, particularly in acrylic emulsions. 

 

'Through this Share Acquisition, we intend to expand business opportunities in these markets and promote product development based on customer needs by collaborating with the Newly Established Company, which will have technological capabilities and a sales network that can contribute to the Company’s business in the acrylic emulsion field, thereby leading to the medium to long-term growth of the Konishi Group,” the company added.

 

The deal positions Konishi to leverage the new subsidiary’s expertise and networks to accelerate growth and broaden its technological reach in key chemical markets.
