LANXESS and Hindustan Colas Private Limited (HINCOL) have joined forces to explore advanced road construction technologies for India, targeting better pavement performance, greater production efficiency and lower environmental impact.

 

The specialty chemicals company and the road construction solutions provider have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to evaluate technical, commercial and business opportunities in bitumen and asphalt modification technologies, paving the way for potential adoption of innovative solutions across India's infrastructure sector.

 

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly assess technologies designed to improve road quality, streamline production and support more sustainable infrastructure development.

 

A key focus will be Addipave CR 36, LANXESS' advanced cross-linking technology for Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB). The partners will conduct laboratory tests and commercial-scale trials to assess its potential to improve production efficiency, product consistency and quality, operational safety and the performance of modified bitumen formulations.

 

LANXESS will provide the product, technical expertise and trial support, while HINCOL will contribute testing facilities, operational capabilities and performance assessments under Indian operating conditions.

 

The collaboration will also examine Addipave® WM 23, LANXESS' warm mix asphalt additive technology, through joint trials and market development initiatives. The technology aims to lower asphalt production and paving temperatures without compromising road performance standards.

 

Lower operating temperatures could help reduce energy consumption and emissions while improving workplace conditions, adding to the industry's push for more sustainable road construction practices.

 

The partnership combines LANXESS' global expertise in specialty additives and formulation technologies with HINCOL's experience in bitumen technology, road construction solutions and infrastructure projects across India. The companies aim to use this complementary expertise to evaluate advanced pavement solutions suited to the needs of the Indian market.
