Monument Chemical is moving to expand its global supply of two key bio-based solvents, THFA (tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol) and 2-MeTHF (2-methyltetrahydrofuran), following a new agreement with Minasolve as the company ceases US production of the products.

The move positions Monument to support customers across pharmaceutical, agrochemical and specialty markets by leveraging its established manufacturing network, quality systems and commercial reach across Europe and the United States.

With more than five years of experience producing high-purity THFA and 2-MeTHF in both regions, Monument aims to strengthen supply continuity and meet growing customer needs as production arrangements shift.

“This is exactly the kind of opportunity we look for – one where our capabilities, assets, and people allow us to solve a real need for customers,” said Sarves Peri, President, Monument Chemical. “We know these products and markets well, and we’re ready to build on that foundation to strengthen global supply and better serve our customers.”

Monument’s presence in Europe and the US is expected to be a key advantage for pharmaceutical customers, for whom product quality, reliability and security of supply are essential.

“Our ability to produce in both Europe and the US gives us a strong global position to support pharmaceutical customers with production close to where they operate,” said Sweder van Rijckevorsel, VP Business Leader, Europe, Monument Chemical.

“Combined with our well-established quality assurance and control systems for high-purity solvents, it allows us to provide the consistency and reliability these applications demand while continuing to grow with our customers globally.”

The expansion is also expected to give Monument greater flexibility in serving agrochemical manufacturers, where dependable access to critical solvents remains a priority.

“Dependable supply is critical for our agrochemical customers,” said John Lewis, Senior Commercial Director, US Solvents, Monument Chemical. “Expanding production gives us greater flexibility to support their evolving needs.”

For Minasolve, the agreement marks a shift in focus towards other bio-based chemicals while placing the THFA and 2-MeTHF business with a partner equipped to support customers over the long term.

“As we sharpen our focus on other bio-based chemicals, it was important to identify a partner with the experience and capabilities to continue supporting our customers for the long term,” said Frédéric Marmousez, CEO of Minafin Group. “Monument knows these products and markets well, and we are pleased to have found a strong partner to support a smooth transition and the continued development of these bio-based solvents.”

Monument and Minasolve will work directly with customers over the coming months to assess individual requirements and facilitate a smooth transition.

The agreement reinforces Monument’s strategy of expanding its capabilities in response to changing customer requirements, with a focus on supply resilience, performance and sustainability.

Beyond its production capabilities, Monument offers circular solvent solutions, including recovery, purification and reprocessing, broadening its offering for customers seeking more sustainable approaches to solvent use.
