Nissan Chemical Corporation is ramping up its global agrochemical ambitions.

This, with plans to build a new manufacturing facility in India for its next-generation herbicide Ryzonic (iptriazopyrid), a key product expected to drive future growth.

The new production facility will be established at Nissan Bharat Rasayan (NBR), the company's consolidated subsidiary in India, as Nissan Chemical prepares for the worldwide launch of the herbicide and anticipates rising demand across major agricultural markets.

NBR was formed in 2020 as a joint venture between Nissan Chemical and Bharat Rasayan, one of India's leading agrochemical manufacturers and distributors. The joint venture began operations at its Saykha, Gujarat plant in March 2023.

The latest investment is designed to create a stable, long-term supply platform for Ryzonic, a novel herbicide discovered by Nissan Chemical. The company described the project as a strategically important investment aimed at supporting future business expansion.

Construction of the new facility is scheduled for completion, with operations expected to begin in fiscal 2028.

Ryzonic is slated for commercial launch in 2027, starting in key markets including Japan and India before expanding globally. Nissan Chemical expects the product to strengthen its position in the highly competitive paddy rice herbicide market while boosting global supply capabilities.

The company said the project is not expected to have a significant impact on consolidated earnings in the current fiscal year. However, it is expected to support earnings growth over the medium to long term as global sales expand.

Nissan Chemical said it will continue pursuing sustainable growth and increasing corporate value in its agrochemical business through the application of its proprietary technologies.
