Olympic Laminates Pvt Ltd has moved the Ministry of Environment and Forests for environmental clearance to its plans for expansion of its resin plant for manufacturing laminated sheets at its existing unit at Karoli in Gujarat'''s Gandhinagar district.

In its presentation to the Ministry for environmental clearance, the company said that it intends to produce laminated sheets and synthetic chemical resins.

"The proposed product is having good market demand for home and office furniture. We intend to expand production to meet the current market demand," it said.

The total cost of the project is Rs 12.64 crore.

The total land area of the unit is 25632.05 sq m. The greenbelt area is 2100 sq m.

Olympic Laminates said that the project will generate employment to 300 people. In its presentation, it said there has not been any negative impact on the environment due to the project.

On the contrary, there has been positive impact on the socio-economic environment and the project has generated some permanent and secondary employment and increased direct and indirect employment opportunities, the company said.

According to the company, the total power requirement for the expansion project is estimated as 600 KVA, which will be fulfilled from the grid power supplied by Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd.

It said there are no reserve forest areas or sensitive places around the plant and no protected forest near the site. There are no national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, reserve forests or important installations nearby, it said.

The company it will adopt all safety and hazard identification measures besides a strong disaster management policy.
