The new unit will be installed directly on-site at Arauco’s mill and will produce 25,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide per year

Peróxidos do Brasil, a joint venture between Solvay and Produtos Químicos Makay, announce the construction of a new myH₂O₂ satellite hydrogen peroxide plant in Inocência, Brazil, to supply Arauco’s Sucuriú project - a transformative pulp mill development and the company’s largest global investment to date.

Hydrogen peroxide is a key enabler of clean pulp bleaching and water treatment, offering a safer, more sustainable alternative to traditional chemicals. The proprietary myH₂O₂ technology, developed by Solvay, brings production closer to customers in remote or infrastructure-limited regions, reducing transport distances and environmental impact.

The new unit will be installed directly on-site at Arauco’s mill and will produce 25,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide per year, fully meeting Arauco’s demand while any surplus production will be available to the market in the area. The plant’s advanced automation will ensure seamless integration, operational efficiency and high supply reliability.

“This project marks a major step forward in our partnership with Arauco and our commitment to sustainable, customer-focused innovation,” said Carlos Silveira, President of Solvay’s Peroxides business. “By deploying our myH₂O₂ model, we’re not only optimizing logistics and reducing emissions, but also strengthening our presence in Brazil’s fast-growing pulp sector.”

Arauco’s Sucuriú Project represents a US$4.6 billion investment and will be one of the world’s largest single-line pulp mills, with an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons of bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp. The mill is expected to begin operations by 2028.
