PPG’s latest coating technology has earned industry recognition, with its excimer ultraviolet (UV) matte-finish coatings for consumer electronics receiving the 2026 Ringier Technology Innovation Award in the Coatings Industry category.

 

The award honors products and technologies that deliver meaningful advances in coatings innovation and real-world applications. 

 

PPG received the recognition during the China Coatings & Ink Summit & Expo in Shanghai, highlighting the growing demand for high-performance surface solutions in the consumer electronics market.

 

PPG’s excimer UV coatings use specialized excimer (excited dimer) UV light curing technology to create an ultra-matte finish with a soft, skin-like texture. 

 

Available in both waterborne and solventborne formulations, the coatings are designed for metal and plastic devices including notebook computers, keyboards, mobile phones, wearable technology and smart home products.

 

The technology enables manufacturers to achieve premium finishes while improving production efficiency, curing significantly faster than conventional coating methods and offering greater flexibility across manufacturing processes.
