The acquisition adds a highly differentiated waterproofing technology to Saint-Gobain's construction chemicals platform
Saint-Gobain has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Canada-based Xypex, strengthening its position in high-value construction chemicals and expanding its reach in the fast-growing non-residential and infrastructure markets.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Xypex operates in more than 100 countries, employs approximately 170 people and is expected to generate sales of C$110 million in 2026. The company has built a leading position in crystalline waterproofing, particularly in infrastructure and specification-driven construction projects across North America, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
The acquisition adds a highly differentiated waterproofing technology to Saint-Gobain's construction chemicals platform, broadening a portfolio that already includes membrane systems such as GCP Preprufe and FOSROC Proofex, liquid-applied waterproofing solutions including Stirling Lloyd Eliminator and GCP Silcor, as well as injection and repair technologies.
Xypex has established itself as a preferred brand among engineers and specifiers, with its crystalline waterproofing systems selected for hundreds of complex projects worldwide.
The company's technology enhances the durability and service life of concrete structures by protecting them against water penetration, helping extend asset life while reducing maintenance requirements. Its solutions can be used independently or alongside membrane systems where maximum waterproofing performance is required.
By integrating Xypex's crystalline waterproofing technologies—including flagship products such as Admix C-Series, Concentrate and the Bio-San technology—Saint-Gobain will strengthen its offering in key infrastructure sectors, including transportation, water and underground construction.
The acquisition is also expected to generate significant commercial and operational synergies by combining Xypex's specification-driven business model with Saint-Gobain's global footprint, extensive distribution network and established construction chemicals platform.
