Belgian multinational science and advanced materials company Syensqo has announced the launch of Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, a breakthrough scalp care active developed in partnership with Bota Biosciences.
The move underscores the strength of the companies’ strategic alliance formed in 2025 and their shared goal of delivering science-driven solutions to the personal care market.
Derived from upcycled coffee grounds sourced from a plantation in Pu’er, Yunnan, China, Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide targets scalp hydration and soothing—the top benefits consumers now seek—while supporting overall scalp health. The launch reflects a broader trend toward skin care–inspired hair care solutions.
The ingredient’s efficacy stems from its innovative peptide design. Using its physical AI-driven Biofoundry platform, Bota screened natural coffee proteins to identify sequences most beneficial for scalp health.
These peptides were produced via enzymatic digestion and combined to create a multifunctional ingredient that enhances hydration and softness, strengthens the scalp barrier, reduces Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and redness, and delivers anti-inflammatory benefits.
“With Re2 Coffea Arabica Peptide, we continue to expand our hair actives portfolio in line with our strategy. This sustainably sourced, AI-developed ingredient delivers multifunctional benefits for scalp health, enabling brands to address multiple consumer needs with a single solution. It sets a new benchmark for holistic scalp performance that remains unique in today’s market,” said Vincent Miralles, Hair Care Global Segment Leader at Syensqo.
The launch highlights the commercial readiness of Bota’s Biofoundry platform and advances the collaboration between Syensqo and Bota Biosciences. Leveraging Syensqo’s Renewable Materials & Biotechnology platform, the companies aim to unlock new possibilities in the hair and scalp care sector through cutting-edge science.
