Tropical Agro unveils new-gen weapon 'Tag Hikima' against caterpillars, borers

Farmers grappling with relentless pest attacks have a new line of defence

Tropical Agrosystem, one of India’s leading homegrown crop-management companies, has launched Tag Hikima, a next-generation insecticide designed to deliver fast knockdown and sustained protection against major chewing and leaf-eating pests — including fruit borers, Spodoptera species, and a wide range of Lepidopteran caterpillars.

Lepidopteran caterpillars, the destructive larval stage of moths and butterflies, remain among the most damaging pests across crops such as chilli, cotton, tomato, brinjal, rice, and maize. In chilli alone, fruit-borer attacks can wipe out up to 50 percent of yield, while aggressive Spodoptera infestations are known to strip foliage in cotton, maize, and tomato.

Tag Hikima combines Emamectin, Chlorantraniliprole, and Deltamethrin in a triple-action formulation that stops pests from feeding almost immediately on contact, followed by long-lasting control. Trials have shown high mortality even in late-instar larvae, giving farmers a stronger weapon against larval damage, particularly from Spodoptera.

The new formulation is designed to protect crops during their most vulnerable stages — flowering and fruiting — and includes a phyto-tonic effect that supports stronger plant growth and improved yield potential.

Registered for use on chilli, Tag Hikima has delivered strong performance against fruit borers that damage buds and fruits. It has also shown broad efficacy against Lepidopteran caterpillars across several commercial crops and demonstrated high potency against rice leaf folders.
