Acquisition brings proven membrane infrastructure to ADIMEM’s Sayakha facility, deepening vertical integration in advanced RO/NF membrane manufacturing

Indian specialty chemicals leader Vipul Organics Limited announced that its membrane division, ADIMEM Technologies, has successfully won a competitive bid to acquire an advanced industrial membrane sheet manufacturing platform from Denmark-based Aquaporin. The equipment will be moved from Denmark to ADIMEM’s facility in Sayakha, Gujarat, significantly accelerating the company's growth in the membrane manufacturing sector.

The acquired platform includes precision membrane casting, coating, and drying infrastructure, alongside integrated process-control and manufacturing systems. This is the same production-grade equipment Aquaporin used for its own membrane development and manufacturing. Because advanced Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nanofiltration (NF) membrane performance relies as heavily on precise, repeatable manufacturing control as it does on chemistry, this proven infrastructure grants ADIMEM a capability that typically takes years to build organically.

As an established commercial player, ADIMEM manages the entire membrane lifecycle, including indigenous R&D, manufacturing, quality control, and application engineering. The acquisition vastly upgrades its production capabilities with advanced casting and coating infrastructure built to global standards. This strategic step deepens ADIMEM's vertical integration within India's membrane industry.

“This acquisition is an important step in our vision of building a globally competitive membrane technology business from India,” says Mr. Vipul P. Shah, Managing Director, Vipul Organics Limited. “Winning this platform through a competitive bidding process, and bringing proven manufacturing infrastructure from a respected Danish membrane technology company to Sayakha, meaningfully strengthens our vertical integration and supports the Make in India vision.”

“Membrane performance is won as much in the precision of casting, coating and drying as it is in chemistry. This platform gives us exactly that kind of advanced, production-proven infrastructure,” says Dr. Vatsal Shah, who leads ADIMEM Technologies. “Combined with our indigenous R&D and existing element manufacturing, testing and application engineering capabilities, it strengthens our ability to develop and manufacture world-class RO and NF membranes in India, for India and for the world.”

The strengthened platform will support ADIMEM’s portfolio across RO, NF, UF, MF and MBR technologies, serving applications including industrial water treatment, wastewater recycling, desalination and specialised process separations, and reinforces Vipul Organics’ strategy of expanding into high-technology, sustainability-driven businesses.
