Trentar Private Limited, the technology and infrastructure arm of Dorf Ketal Group, is set to enter India’s large-scale digital infrastructure market with a proposed Rs. 30,000 crore ($3.3 billion) investment in Maharashtra to develop a 500 MW Green Integrated Hyperscale Data Center project.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra during the Invest Maharashtra initiative, marking a major expansion into infrastructure designed to support artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, large-scale data processing and big-data analytics.
The MoU was formally handed over by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Under the agreement, the state government will facilitate coordination for applicable permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances and incentives under prevailing policies and regulations. The project has also received a Letter of Intent from the state outlining the applicable support and incentives.
“Maharashtra has laid a strong foundation for India’s digital economy, and we are proud to contribute to the State’s next phase of growth. For more than three decades, our Group has delivered complex, mission-critical infrastructure through engineering excellence and operational discipline.
"We will bring that experience to a modular Data Center campus built for rapid deployment and scalable growth, with sustainability, advanced technology and cost efficiency at its core.” said Subodh Menon, Group Founder and Vice Chairman.
The proposed investment represents a significant move into digital infrastructure for the Dorf Ketal Group, which was established in 1992 and has built a global specialty-chemicals business serving demanding industrial applications.
Trentar plans to leverage the group’s experience in process engineering, utilities, thermal management, water treatment, energy efficiency and continuous operations to develop the proposed data centre campus.
Sustainability is central to the project’s design. Trentar is targeting at least 51% of the facility’s energy requirements from renewable sources and is evaluating in-house energy storage, treated-water reuse and water-efficient cooling technologies. Final technology choices will be determined following detailed design and feasibility studies.
The 500 MW campus is being positioned to address India’s rapidly growing demand for computing capacity as AI, cloud services and data-intensive applications expand. Trentar said the project is intended to contribute to a more secure, resilient and sovereign digital infrastructure ecosystem in India.
The proposed Green Integrated Data Center is expected to become the cornerstone of Trentar’s digital infrastructure platform, providing a scalable backbone for AI, cloud, high-performance computing and other data-intensive applications.
