MOL signs MoU for joint study on ammonia fuel supply chain

The company will promote development of off-shore facilities such as floating storage units and/or ammonia bunkering ships, and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering


Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL) has signed an MoU with ITOCHU Corporation, ITOCHU ENEX Co. Ltd., Vopak Terminals Singapore Pte Ltd. (VOPAK), Pavilion Energy Singapore Pte. Ltd. and Total Marine Fuels Pte Ltd. regarding joint development study on ammonia fuel supply chain in Singapore. 

The MoU was signed by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto with ITOCHU Corporation President & COO Keita Ishii; ITOCHU ENEX President & CEO Kenji Okada; Vopak Terminals Singapore Pte Ltd., Pavilion Energy Singapore Pte. Ltd. and Total Marine Fuels Pte Ltd. regarding joint development study on ammonia fuel supply chain in Singapore. 

MOL will promote the development of off-shore facilities such as floating storage units and/or ammonia bunkering ships, and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering. ITOCHU will promote the development of off-shore facilities such as floating storage units and/or fuel supply ships, and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering in Singapore. 

ITOCHU ENEX will promote the development of ammonia fuel supply chain and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering in Singapore together with other parties, by making use of their experience and expertise in the operation of marine fuel supply in Japan and Singapore. 

Vopak will promote the development of an independent, on-shore facility for the storage and handling of ammonia with loading/unloading facilities in Singapore by tapping its ammonia storage & handling expertise in its Banyan Terminal in Singapore. Pavilion Energy will promote the development of the ammonia fuel supply chain and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering in Singapore. 

Total will promote the development of ammonia fuel supply chain and safety guidelines of ammonia bunkering in Singapore together with other partners, and the development of bunkering infrastructures together with other partners.
