Siemens Energy and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) presided over by Dr. Jochen Eickholt, Executive Board Member of Siemens Energy AG, and HeeBong Chae, President and CEO of KOGAS. This formally marks the start of a strategic alliance for green hydrogen production and hydrogen turbine power generation.

The business agreement is related to promotion of stable hydrogen business, including green hydrogen production and hydrogen power generation.

Under the agreement, the two companies will closely collaborate across all areas of hydrogen business to pursue the production of green hydrogen and its use in power generation. This includes a demonstration project for large-scale domestic green hydrogen production and supply; hydrogen turbine power generation; joint research for overseas green hydrogen production and transport strategies; and technological development to secure competitiveness in the hydrogen business.

Through close collaboration and co-innovation, Siemens Energy and KOGAS share a joint commitment to empowering South Korea’s renewable energy advancement by expanding their green hydrogen generation capacity.

HeeBong Chae says, “By embarking on a global partnership with a world leader in hydrogen technology, we are committed to accelerating overseas production and transport of green hydrogen. In addition to contributing to the nation’s carbon neutrality drive, we ultimately look to emerge as the nation’s leading hydrogen company”

Building upon this, Dr. Jochen Eickholt adds, “We are confident that our strategic collaboration with KOGAS and our mutual technologies can yield groundbreaking new frontiers. Siemens Energy stands ready to further support South Korea in its pursuit of carbon neutrality through the expansion and development of the country's green hydrogen projects.”
