The interaction gave women entrepreneurs a platform to speak about their success stories
Women-led rural entrepreneurship took centre stage at Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited’s (HURL) Gorakhpur Plant, where ‘Apna Samvaad’ brought together Lakhpati Drone Didis from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to share their journeys, achievements and experiences of using drone technology in agriculture.
The interaction gave women entrepreneurs a platform to speak about their success stories, challenges and the opportunities emerging from the adoption of drone-based agricultural services. Drone Didis from different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar also participated virtually, highlighting the impact of their work in the field and the growing scope for technology-driven livelihoods in rural areas.
The programme was led by Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, HURL, who interacted with the participating Drone Didis and heard their experiences, achievements and challenges. He encouraged the women entrepreneurs to continue their journey with confidence, while stressing the importance of mutual support, knowledge-sharing and peer learning.
Mohanty also urged the Drone Didis to guide and support fellow entrepreneurs by sharing their experiences and learnings. He emphasised that collective efforts can help women overcome operational challenges, strengthen their enterprises and expand the benefits of drone technology at the grassroots. He further assured them of HURL’s continued support.
The programme also featured an Award Ceremony recognising the three highest-performing Drone Didis for their achievements and contribution. The recognition celebrated their efforts in taking technology-enabled agricultural services to rural communities.
The ‘Apna Samvaad’ initiative underlines the expanding role of women as technology-enabled rural entrepreneurs, showing how access to modern agricultural technology can open new avenues for livelihood generation, enterprise development and greater participation of women in the agricultural ecosystem.
From the skies to the fields, these women are turning technology into opportunity—driving a new wave of rural entrepreneurship and technology-led agriculture.
