The facility boosts IPL Biologicals’ total production capacity to 70,000 litres per day

IPL Biologicals has inaugurated a massive new biological manufacturing facility in Vadodara, in a major escalation in India’s drive to slash chemical fertilizer dependency and accelerate the shift toward sustainable agriculture.

The launch of the cutting-edge cGMP-compliant plant aims to reduce chemical fertilizer usage by up to 50%, positioning biological alternatives at the center of India’s future farming strategy.

The inauguration ceremony drew cricket legend and brand ambassador Yuvraj Singh, scientists, policymakers, distributors, and progressive farmers, underscoring the growing national focus on biological agriculture.

Spread across 12 acres with a built-up area of 2 lakh square feet, the facility boosts IPL Biologicals’ total production capacity to 70,000 litres per day. The plant features a fully automated manufacturing system with automatic harvesting and transfer technology, enabling near-zero human intervention.

The company said the facility has been engineered as a next-generation biological manufacturing hub focused on biofertilizers, biopesticides, and advanced crop health solutions aimed at reducing India’s dependence on synthetic agricultural chemicals.

Built with a Zero-Liquid-Discharge (ZLD) system and supported by 500 kW of captive solar power generation, the plant also reflects the industry’s growing shift toward environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

The facility complies with cGMP standards and is certified under OHSAS and ISO 9001:2015 frameworks. It is also SCADA-controlled for real-time monitoring and carries IMO, Indocert, and OMRI organic certifications, enabling access to global markets.

Industry experts say the rapid expansion of India’s biologicals sector could significantly reduce fertilizer subsidy burdens, curb import dependence, restore soil fertility, and improve food quality by lowering chemical residues in agricultural produce.

"We are scaling our three decades of microbial innovation to provide India’s Annadatas with advanced, eco-friendly biological solutions that make sustainable agriculture a practical, profitable, and everyday reality," said Harsh Vardhan Bhagchandka, President, IPL Biologicals.

“To win big, you need the right strategy, the right timing, and the right intent. PM Modi has given Indian agriculture a clear goal to cut chemical fertilizer usage by half, and IPL Biologicals is delivering the winning toolkit.

"Our farmers are the true champions, and this world-class facility ensures they have access to the best bio-inputs to protect their land and secure their yields for future generations," said Yuvraj Singh, Brand Ambassador, IPL Biologicals.

“Reducing chemical inputs by 50% is not just an environmental goal; it is an economic necessity for smallholder farmers. When we replace heavy chemical loads with high-efficiency biofertilizers, we significantly reduce input costs while preserving soil fertility. This plant brings world-class scientific solutions directly to the grassroots level," said Mahesh Bhagchandka, CMD, IPL Biologicals.

IPL Biologicals currently works with more than 45 million farmers across 27 countries through a network of over 8,000 distributors.

The Vadodara expansion signals a major bet on India’s biological agriculture market as companies and policymakers intensify efforts to transition farmers away from conventional chemical-heavy farming practices.
