In a significant boost to India’s energy logistics and maritime ambitions, GAIL (India) has inked a long-term charter agreement with Greek shipping heavyweight Alpha Gas for the advanced LNG carrier “Energy Fidelity.”

 

The agreement was formally executed with Pantheon Maritime Services Private Limited, a Singapore-based affiliate of Alpha Gas, marking a strategic international collaboration aimed at strengthening India’s gas supply chain.

 

The deal was signed in Athens, where S Bairagi, Executive Director, GAIL (India) Limited, and Ms. Anna Angelicoussis, Owner of Alpha Gas, formalized the partnership at the company’s headquarters.

 

At the center of the agreement is the LNG carrier “Energy Fidelity,” a high-capacity vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas. The ship is equipped with a cutting-edge two-stroke propulsion system, enhanced by advanced air lubrication technology and shaft generators—features designed to significantly improve fuel efficiency while sharply reducing emissions.

 

The move is being seen as a key milestone for GAIL under India’s ambitious ‘Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, reinforcing the country’s push to modernize maritime infrastructure and secure a more resilient, efficient energy supply chain.
