The expansion lifts Linde's overall regional footprint to more than 7,000 tons of oxygen per day

Linde has expanded its long-term industrial gas supply to Tata Steel Limited at the Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Odisha, India.

Through a new long-term supply agreement, Linde has doubled its on-site capacity by taking over two air separation units (ASUs) previously operated by Tata Steel. These units are now active, delivering essential oxygen, nitrogen, and argon directly to Tata Steel's iron and steelmaking facilities.

This added infrastructure supports a major production ramp-up at Kalinganagar, allowing Tata Steel to boost its annual output from three million tons to eight million tons of steel per year. The expansion lifts Linde's overall regional footprint to more than 7,000 tons of oxygen per day, while also positioning the company to supply the broader regional merchant market.

“This expansion with Tata Steel underscores the strength of our long-standing relationship and highlights the critical role of industrial gases in steelmaking,” said Moloy Banerjee, President ASEAN & South Asia, Linde. “The project further deepens our network density in an important industrial region and positions Linde to capture further growth opportunities in India.”
