The new facility will be the company’s fourth air separation plant in Norway

Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation announced that its Norwegian subsidiary, Nippon Gases Norway, will construct a new air separation plant at the Viganeset industrial area in Hjelmeland municipality, Rogaland County.

Operated under the European group company Nippon Gases Euro-Holding S.L.U, the project represents an investment of 400 million NOK and is scheduled to begin operations in the summer of 2027.

The new facility will be the company’s fourth air separation plant in Norway and is designed to ensure a reliable supply of industrial, food-grade, and medical gases to meet growing demand in the aquaculture sector, as well as in healthcare and other regional industries. The project highlights Nippon Gases’ commitment to strengthening supply security while supporting the green transition and sustainable growth in southwestern Norway.

The decision to locate the plant in the Viganeset industrial area was made in close cooperation with Hjelmeland municipality and local aquaculture operator Årdal Aqua. During the construction phase, Nippon Gases expects to place significant orders with local contractors, creating employment opportunities and contributing to the economic revitalization of the region.

Once operational, the plant will provide stable, long-term gas supply to support both industrial innovation and healthcare needs, while reinforcing the foundation for sustainable development in the area.

Nippon Sanso Holdings Group will continue to leverage its global expertise and network to deliver innovation and create social value across the fields of industry, healthcare, and the environment.
