The development is designed to produce around 3.6 Mtpa of LNG

Technip Energies has secured a significant engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Coral Norte floating LNG development offshore Mozambique. This marks another major milestone in the expansion of the Coral gas hub.

The award comes through Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) and is being executed in partnership with JGC Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries. It forms part of a broader package of contracts tied to the Coral Norte project, which together represent what Technip Energies classifies as a “major” award—exceeding €1 billion in value.

The Coral Norte Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project, located offshore Mozambique, is being developed by Eni alongside partners CNPC, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, XRG and KOGAS. The development is designed to produce around 3.6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG, effectively doubling the Coral hub’s total capacity to 7 Mtpa.

Once complete, Coral Norte is expected to push Mozambique into the ranks of Africa’s top three LNG producers, strengthening its position in the global gas market at a time of intensifying energy competition.

The project will replicate the earlier Coral Sul development, leveraging proven design and execution strategies from the first FLNG unit in Mozambique’s Area 4 offshore block. Engineers are applying a standardized “design one, build many” approach aimed at reducing execution risk, improving delivery certainty, and accelerating deployment.

Arnaud Pieton, Chief Executive Officer of Technip Energies, said: “The Coral Norte project reflects the confidence of ENI and its partners in our FLNG execution capabilities and in the performance in operations of the Coral South FLNG.

"By leveraging our ‘design one, build many’ approach, we are demonstrating how a standardized model can accelerate large-scale offshore project delivery. This approach enables faster deployment of new LNG capacity, contributing to energy security and diversification. It also reinforces Mozambique’s growing role in the global LNG landscape."

Technip Energies said the award consolidates its expanding scope on Coral Norte and reinforces its role as a key delivery partner in one of Africa’s most closely watched LNG developments.

The company added that a “major” award reflects aggregated contract value above €1 billion, covering all agreements linked to the project, including previously announced work, and was recorded in Q2 2026 within its Project Delivery segment.
