International industrial services provider Bilfinger has secured a five-year extension to its framework agreement with Covestro, a leading global supplier of high-tech polymer materials.
The partnership, in place since 2014, covers routine maintenance and major turnarounds of electrical equipment across multiple Covestro sites in Germany, aiming to maximize plant availability and efficiency.
At Covestro’s chemical parks in Dormagen and Uerdingen, the collaboration focuses on chlorine production—a cornerstone for many of the company’s processes.
“The uninterrupted ongoing operation of chlorine production is critical to our processes. Through its professional maintenance work, Bilfinger has been making a major contribution to plant efficiency and minimizing downtime for years,” says Wolfgang Pagani, Technical Site Management NRW & Head of Contractors Management.
“The team’s exceptional flexibility and work quality were decisive factors for us to once again extend our successful collaboration.”
Volker Sembill, Vice President Maintenance E&M DACH at Bilfinger, adds: “We are very pleased with the extension of the framework agreement with Covestro. It serves as an example of the long-term, trusting partnerships we have with our customers. The collaboration demonstrates how we can enhance the efficiency and thus the sustainability of plants with targeted solutions that are consistent with our strategy.”
Under the contract for PCT assembly (Process Control Technology Assembly), Bilfinger manages preventive and reactive maintenance of electrical equipment, as well as full overhauls during planned turnarounds. Their teams perform 24/7 routine maintenance, including the replacement and repair of cables and electrical components at both Covestro locations.
Bilfinger experts also install and inspect Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control systems, ensuring seamless operation and boosting efficiency across the plants.
