Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has come on board as Principal Partner of Team India at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, strengthening its long-standing association with Indian sport.

 

The Games are being held from September 19 to October 4, 2026, with 503 Indian sportspersons representing the country across disciplines. BPCL’s partnership puts its support behind athletes competing on one of Asia’s biggest sporting stages.

 

For BPCL, the association extends beyond a sponsorship. The company said it reflects values of performance, perseverance, discipline and excellence—qualities it says are central to both sport and its own ethos.

The partnership also has a direct link to BPCL’s sporting ecosystem, with 13 BPCL-associated sportspersons included in the Indian contingent. They will compete across cricket, hockey, volleyball, badminton, archery, athletics, swimming and table tennis.

 

The group includes six sportspersons recruited by BPCL and seven athletes backed through its Scholarship Scheme, highlighting the company’s two-pronged approach of supporting both established athletes and emerging talent.

 

Among the BPCL-recruited athletes are cricketers Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, hockey player Shilanand Lakra, and Jerome Vinith Charles, captain of the Indian men’s volleyball team. RMV Guru Sai Dutt, associated with the Indian badminton team in a coaching capacity, will also contribute to the campaign.

 

The BPCL Scholarship Scheme is represented by athletes across a wide range of disciplines. The scholarship contingent includes Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam in archery, Vishal T.K. in athletics, Tharun Manepalli in badminton, Rajinder Singh in hockey, Shrihari Natraj in swimming, and table tennis players Payas Jain and Syndrela Das.

 

The breadth of representation underscores BPCL’s continued investment in Indian sport through athlete recruitment and scholarship support, providing backing at different stages of sporting careers.

 

As Team India takes the field in Aichi-Nagoya, BPCL is positioning its partnership as part of a broader effort to nurture sporting talent and support India’s ambitions on the international stage.
