The facility will manufacture coatings for both interior food contact applications and exterior non-food contact applications
DIC Corporation has announced the establishment of a new production facility for coatings suitable for direct food contact materials at the site of PT. DIC Graphics, its wholly owned subsidiary in Jakarta, Indonesia.
This milestone marks the world’s first facility operated by an inks manufacturer to be designed in compliance with the guiding principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), a globally recognized food safety management system.
The facility, for which HACCP certification has been applied, achieves a food safety management standard on par with leading food product manufacturers. With an annual production target of 1,000 tonnes by fiscal 2030, it will serve growing markets in Asia—including the People’s Republic of China (PRC)—and Oceania, strengthening DIC’s role in advancing sustainable packaging solutions globally.
The new facility is equipped with advanced features such as air showers, HEPA-filter dusters, and antibacterial flooring. It has also earned halal certification under Indonesian regulations and complies with the World Health Organization’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food and pharmaceutical safety.
This facility, the first in Asia outside Japan dedicated to coatings for direct food contact materials, strengthens DIC’s competitiveness in the sustainable packaging market while contributing to the company’s DIC Vision 2030 long-term management plan, which prioritizes circular economy initiatives.
With technologies developed in the United States, Europe, and Japan now being localized in Indonesia, the new facility will allow DIC to deliver high-performance coatings tailored to local and regional markets, fostering the growth of sustainable packaging industries across Asia and Oceania.
The facility will manufacture coatings for both interior food contact applications and exterior non-food contact applications.
