The new Jakarta office brings together teams from dsm-firmenich’s three business units — Taste, Texture & Health; Perfumery & Beauty; and Health, Nutrition & Care — under one roof

dsm-firmenich is stepping up its investment in Indonesia with a new Jakarta office and an expanded manufacturing facility in Karawang, boosting local innovation, production capacity and customer collaboration.

The nutrition, health and beauty company said the new facilities are designed to accelerate the development of locally relevant solutions while strengthening its long-term presence in Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian market.

The new Jakarta office brings together teams from dsm-firmenich’s three business units — Taste, Texture & Health; Perfumery & Beauty; and Health, Nutrition & Care — under one roof. The move is intended to increase cross-business collaboration, improve efficiency and enable more integrated solutions for customers.

The office, which is certified by the Green Building Council of Indonesia, includes upgraded creation and application laboratories for Perfumery & Beauty, immersive sensorium experiences and dedicated air-care testing facilities. These capabilities will allow teams to assess fragrance performance, longevity and product stability.

The Taste, Texture & Health business has also added a baked-goods application lab and a pilot plant for dairy ultra-high temperature (UHT) applications, alongside capabilities in local sweet goods, savory applications and flavor creation.

Jun Saplad, Senior Vice President, Regional Consumer Brands, Perfumery & Beauty, said: “Today’s customers need more than a supplier; they need a true co-creation partner. This new setup allows us to work side-by-side with our customers, accelerating the journey from consumer insight to fragrance solutions through faster prototyping, deeper collaboration and locally relevant innovation.

"By bringing together the complementary strengths of our Perfumery & Beauty teams, we can create more holistic consumer experiences and unlock more opportunities for synergies and innovation. Combined with enhanced in-market capabilities and our global creation excellence, our new Creative Center brings differentiated fragrance and beauty solutions to market faster, helping customers win with greater confidence and impact.”

The company has simultaneously completed an expansion of its Karawang manufacturing facility, significantly increasing production capacity as it responds to rising customer demand.

The upgraded site features new drying technology for reaction and top-note products, capable of processing both high-fat and high-protein products. New culinary blending capabilities are also expected to improve operational efficiency.

"Indonesia has been an important part of our story for more than 35 years. It’s one of Southeast Asia’s biggest markets, and our new facilities will help accelerate our growth," said Timothy Elisafan, Head of Taste, Texture & Health, Asia Pacific, dsm-firmenich.

"By expanding our innovation and manufacturing capabilities, we're making it easier to co-create with customers, respond more quickly to rapidly changing consumer needs and bring new solutions to market faster."

Sustainability is another focus of the Karawang expansion. The facility is powered by 100% green electricity, while electric heating is expected to cut CO₂ emissions by approximately 300 metric tons a year.
