dsm-firmenich has launched patent infringement proceedings in China against multiple Chinese entities, including a sclareol producer and a research institute, alleging unauthorized use of its patented technology for producing sclareol.

The company, a global innovator in nutrition, health and beauty, filed the case before the Xiong’An New District Court of Hebei Province. The petition alleges that the defendants used dsm-firmenich’s patent without authorization in the production of sclareol, a key intermediate used to make amber fragrance ingredients such as Ambrox Super.
