Tritan gives us the performance needed to serve Europe’s evolving hospitality and retail markets

As the European Union tightens restrictions on bisphenol A (BPA) in food-contact materials, drinkware manufacturer HappyGlass is moving to strengthen its position with BPA-free alternatives built on Tritan from Eastman.

The fast-growing European producer of premium reusable drinkware supplies the hospitality, healthcare and retail sectors, and is positioning itself as a key player in the shift away from traditional polycarbonate, glass and single-use cups.

“Our collaboration with Eastman ensures that we can continue to grow and innovate with confidence while we guide our customers to regulatory-compliant solutions,” said Simon Niekolaas, product development and production engineer for HappyGlass.

“Tritan gives us the performance needed to serve Europe’s evolving hospitality and retail markets.”

HappyGlass has relied on Tritan for years to manufacture high-clarity, impact-resistant drinkware designed for demanding, high-volume environments.

The material’s BPA-free profile, combined with durability and visual appeal, has made it a central component in the company’s transition strategy as venues move away from BPA-containing polycarbonate products.

Tritan copolyester is also enabling product expansion, offering the design flexibility and processing consistency needed for new applications across hospitality, healthcare, events and retail.

HappyGlass says the material’s reliability is supporting greater experimentation in design and functionality while maintaining operational efficiency for large-scale users.

The company has steadily broadened its portfolio, supplying hotels, restaurants, catering operators, major retailers and global consumer brands. With in-house blow-molding production, it is scaling output of BPA-free drinkware that maintains consistent clarity and durability across high-demand settings.

At the core of its strategy is a focus on longevity and reuse, aiming to reduce waste and support more sustainable consumption across the hospitality and events industries.

The regulatory shift expected in 2026 is accelerating demand across Europe for BPA-free alternatives, particularly in food service environments where durability and compliance are critical.

“We are proud to collaborate with a company like HappyGlass,” said San Sutanto, marketing director for Tritan.

“They are committed to offering high-quality, reusable drinkware designed for long-term use, and they continue to develop products to meet their customers’ changing needs.”
