The specialty chemicals giant witnessed a massive surge in top-line growth
Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) has delivered a stellar financial performance for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2027, reporting a consolidated net profit of Rs. 240 crore. This represents a significant 42% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to the Rs. 169 crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, driven by robust operational efficiencies and strong demand in its core segments.
The specialty chemicals giant witnessed a massive surge in top-line growth, with its consolidated revenue jumping 45.5% YoY to Rs. 1,760 crore, up from rs. 1,210 crore in the same period last fiscal. The stellar revenue spike was heavily anchored by the company's core fluorine chemistry verticals, particularly a geometric rise in the fluorochemicals segment, which skyrocketed by 135% YoY to Rs. 607 crore, catalyzed by substantial volume off-take and traction from R32 refrigerant gas. Additionally, GFL’s flagship fluoropolymers segment continued its upward trajectory, increasing 22% YoY to Rs. 931 crore, comfortably beating the company’s structural annual growth guidance of 17% to 20%.
On the operational front, the company’s Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) rose 32.1% YoY to Rs. 473 crore. However, the consolidated EBITDA margin compressed by 271 basis points, coming in at 26.9% compared to 29.6% in the previous year. Management attributed this contraction to a shifting product mix and the developmental drag from its nascent battery materials vertical. GFL’s battery materials segment posted an EBITDA loss of Rs. 32 crore as it scales up commercial qualifications for components like LiPF6 salts and electrolytes.
Demonstrating strong conviction in the electric vehicle (EV) value chain, the board approved an investment of up to Rs. 600 crore in its subsidiary, GFCL EV Products Limited, aimed at funding capital expenditures for future capacity.
