Laxmi Organic Industries has firmly rejected recent media reports comparing its Lote manufacturing operations to those of the defunct Italian firm Miteni, calling the claims “inaccurate and misleading.”
In a statement issued this week, the company said its Lote facility at the Lote Parshuram Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) operates in full compliance with Indian environmental, safety and regulatory standards and has held all statutory approvals since inception.
“All process emissions and effluents are scientifically treated and appropriately disposed at a State Government approved facility,” the Company said, adding that “there is no discharge of hazardous effluents in the environment from the Lote facility.”
The Company drew a sharp distinction between its operations and the Miteni case, which involved the direct discharge of untreated wastewater into rivers over several decades, causing widespread environmental and health damage. Such practices, it said, are not permitted under India’s regulatory framework, which mandates strict environmental clearances, continuous monitoring and compliance.
According to Laxmi Organic, the Lote facility runs closed-loop systems designed to prevent the release of harmful substances. Hazardous waste and effluents are transported to a State Government approved common hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facility for scientific disposal, including incineration.
The company said it follows standardized hazardous waste management procedures with full digital traceability, supported by advanced safety systems, high-capacity effluent treatment infrastructure, containment measures and impervious flooring to prevent environmental contamination.
Laxmi Organic also highlighted that the Lote site is a multi-technology, multi-product facility producing both fluorinated and non-fluorinated products that serve sectors such as semiconductors, defence, power grids, electric vehicles, medical devices, electronics, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. It emphasized that fluorinated products are manufactured responsibly in India and globally at scale.
Reiterating its stance, the company said it remains committed to transparency and will continue to engage proactively with stakeholders and government authorities.
