N.A.N. Enaex, a 50:50 joint venture between N.A.N. GreenMet and Chile-based blasting solutions major Enaex S.A., is set to enter India in 2027 with an initial investment of Rs 750 crore to establish an integrated explosives manufacturing facility.
The venture expects India to account for 10% of Enaex’s global sales, potentially generating approximately $300 million.
The entry comes as India’s mining and infrastructure sectors drive demand for advanced explosives, precision blasting systems and technology-led solutions.
Moving beyond conventional explosives supply, N.A.N. Enaex plans to bring emulsion explosives, electronic detonator systems, mine-to-mill optimisation services and digital and AI-enabled tools to mining, quarrying and major civil infrastructure projects.
The company aims to improve blast precision, enhance operational safety, boost productivity and minimise the impact of blasting on surrounding areas, including residential communities.
N.A.N. Enaex will establish its first manufacturing unit in Eastern India, strategically located close to customers and industrial infrastructure. The first phase will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of emulsion explosives and one million electronic detonators.
The facility is intended to support the venture’s ambition to build an integrated Indian manufacturing and technology business serving large mining and infrastructure operators.
Early discussions with leading Indian mining companies have reportedly revealed strong interest in technology-led blasting solutions, with customers seeking higher productivity, lower operating costs, improved safety and reduced environmental impact.
India’s explosives market is projected to reach $1.7 billion by 2030 and $2.7 billion by 2035, driven by rising mineral production and large-scale infrastructure development.
The country’s target of achieving 300 million tonnes of steelmaking capacity by 2030, coupled with projected annual growth of 12–15% in select mining segments, is expected to underpin demand for advanced blasting technologies.
Infrastructure development is another major growth driver. India has a pipeline of more than 1,300 tunnels spanning 3,600 km across hydropower, railways, roads and metro projects. The government’s Rs 12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure allocation for FY2026-27 and its target of 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity by 2030 further reinforce the potential demand for specialised blasting solutions.
Enaex brings more than 100 years of experience in blasting solutions and an established international presence across major mining markets. The company operates in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Oceania, with leading positions in Chile, Peru, Brazil and South Africa.
Its technology portfolio includes proprietary DaveyTronic electronic initiation systems, digital blast design and monitoring tools, and mine-to-mill optimisation services.
These technologies are designed to improve rock fragmentation and blast control, helping mining companies increase productivity, reduce downstream processing costs and better manage vibration and other environmental impacts.
N.A.N. GreenMet brings decades of experience in executing large-scale mineral, energy and infrastructure projects, complementing Enaex’s global blasting expertise.
The joint venture’s strategy is to combine this international technology platform with local manufacturing and customer proximity to address the operational demands of India’s expanding mining and infrastructure sectors.
Annanya Agarwal, Co-founder and Director, N.A.N. GreenMet, said: “India is investing heavily in civil infrastructure, from hydropower and tunnelling to highways and railways, alongside the expansion of its mining sector. These projects need better technology, higher safety standards and more efficient operations. Our early conversations with customers have made it clear that the market is ready for this change.
"With Enaex, we have a partner with a strong global track record in product quality, technology and safety. Our investment is aimed at building a substantial Indian manufacturing and technology business, close to our customers and provide end-to-end reliable products and services to large infrastructure and mining operations.”
Juan Andrés Errázuriz Domínguez, CEO, Enaex, said: “India is undertaking infrastructure projects of a scale and complexity that demand a different approach to blasting. In our experience across some of the world's largest mining markets, the real gains come from getting the blast right the first time, with greater precision, better fragmentation and tighter control.
"That is where technology makes a measurable difference to productivity, costs and safety. We have spent more than 100 years developing these capabilities, and through N.A.N. Enaex, we intend to bring that experience to India's most challenging mining and infrastructure projects.”
