OQ Chemicals has successfully completed the turnaround at its Ruhrchemie site in Oberhausen. There were no problems restarting the units.
COO Albrecht Schwerin: “Everyone at OQ Chemicals worked hard to make sure that we were able to implement the turnaround over the past weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our colleagues here at OQ Chemicals and everyone else involved for their excellent work.”
The turnaround was carried out to comply with legal requirements for technical inspections by TÜV. In addition to extensive routine inspections of pressure vessels and pipelines, the safety equipment in the units in question was inspected in full. As well as this, scheduled repair work was undertaken, together with projects for technologically upgrading the units or eliminating bottlenecks.
Turnarounds take place every five years. At peak times, up to 1,000 external contractor employees were working onsite.
