The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group company experienced steady growth on its top line as well
PCBL Chemical Limited reported its consolidated financial results for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, delivering a strong year-on-year growth in bottom-line profitability. The specialty chemical manufacturer posted a consolidated net profit of Rs. 74.2 crore, marking a 20.7% surge compared to the Rs. 61.5 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group company experienced steady growth on its top line as well. Consolidated revenue from operations jumped 14.4% year-on-year to Rs. 2,474.45 crore, up from Rs. 2,164 crore in the year-ago period. This robust performance was driven primarily by its core carbon black division, which accounted for a significant chunk of the segment revenues, alongside contribution from power and specialized chemical operations.
Operationally, the company's Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) grew by 10.6% to Rs. 294 crore against Rs. 266 crore in Q2 of the previous fiscal year. However, the EBITDA margin contracted slightly to 11.9% from 12.3% year-on-year, reflecting higher feedstock prices and elevated logistics costs that impacted the broader specialty chemicals sector.
A key strategy highlighted during the earnings review was management's deliberate choice to focus on margin preservation over export volume expansion. PCBL selectively scaled back from lower-margin overseas markets to protect its realization rates, which stood at a healthy normalized EBITDA of approximately Rs. 17,500 per tonne. Profitability for the quarter was further supported by a Rs. 33.06 crore tariff-duty refund.
For the first half of the financial year, the group maintained a highly resilient footing. While domestic automotive and tire demand sustained local inventory drawdowns, the company continues to aggressively pivot towards high-value applications, including next-generation battery materials, pigment-grade specialty blacks, and conductive carbon. Following the board meeting, PCBL also approved its unaudited standalone statements, where standalone profit after tax increased 34% year-on-year to Rs. 80.01 crore.
