PPG has unveiled a high-performance, water-based intumescent coating designed for interior structural steelwork, now available in North America. The product -- PPG STEELGUARD 652 -- promises to deliver long-lasting fire protection while maintaining aesthetic appeal.

 

The cellulosic passive fire protection (PFP) coating provides up to two hours of fire resistance and is UL 263 certified, giving architects, engineers, and building owners confidence in its compliance with industry standards. Its low-VOC, waterborne formulation also supports sustainable construction practices.

 

Key features of PPG STEELGUARD 652 include up to 20 years of long-lasting protection; proven two-hour fire protection; low VOC emissions for efficient trade stacking at complex sites,; and easy on-site application with standard PFP airless spray equipment for smooth, consistent coverage.
