Hyundai Motor said the renewed partnership will help strengthen its global aftersales competitiveness while improving the customer experience

Shell Lubricants and Hyundai Motor Company have renewed their global partnership for another five years, extending a collaboration that has spanned more than two decades and five renewals since 2005.

The renewed agreement will see Shell remain Hyundai Motor’s recommended global supplier of aftersales lubricants, while the two companies deepen cooperation on lubricant technology, high-performance vehicles, motorsport engineering and customer-focused aftersales programmes.

The partnership will also target emerging areas of mobility, with Shell and Hyundai Motor planning to expand work on next-generation e-fluids, thermal management and digital innovation, alongside technologies aimed at improving vehicle performance, efficiency and sustainability.

Shell will continue supplying premium Shell Helix engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide. The company says it has been the world's leading supplier of finished lubricants for 19 consecutive years.

“For more than two decades, Shell and Hyundai Motor have partnered to deliver innovation, performance, and customer value globally. Together, we have advanced lubricant technology, supported Hyundai Motor's mobility ambitions, and translated learnings from motorsport into real-world benefits.

"As we look ahead, we are expanding our collaboration in next-generation e-fluids, thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility. By combining our expertise we will continue to develop solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability for Hyundai Motor and our customers worldwide," said Lee Ming Seow, Vice President, Global Key Accounts and New Business Development, Shell Lubricants.

Hyundai Motor said the renewed partnership will help strengthen its global aftersales competitiveness while improving the customer experience.

“We are pleased to extend Hyundai Motor’s long-standing partnership with Shell. Through our collaborative aftersales service marketing initiatives over the past years, we have successfully enhanced our global aftersales service competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell's premium quality engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide.

"Together, we will be better positioned to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while continuing to create greater value for our customers and strengthen our long-term global competitiveness," said Beom Seok Kang, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Service Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Company.

The partnership increasingly extends beyond conventional aftersales lubricants.

Shell has recently expanded its collaboration with Genesis, Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand, and will serve as the Performance and Innovation Partner to Genesis Magma Racing as the team makes its 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship debut.

Shell has also sponsored the Hyundai Shell MOBIS World Rally Team since 2014. The rally programme gives the companies a demanding environment to test and develop lubricant technologies, with lessons from motorsport feeding into products for Hyundai customers worldwide.

The collaboration also reaches Hyundai’s N Division, where Shell and Hyundai co-engineer lubricants for high-performance engines and electric vehicles.

With the latest renewal, the companies are positioning their partnership for the next phase of the automotive industry—combining lubricant development, motorsport testing, aftersales expertise and emerging mobility technologies.

The five-year extension keeps Shell and Hyundai aligned on a common goal: developing technology for the vehicles of today while preparing for the performance and mobility demands of tomorrow.
