The company is planning to add cane crushing capacity by 2,450 TCD from the present cane crushing capacity of 23,750 TCD
The Board of Directors of Uttam Sugar Mills Limited has approved increase/enhancement in the "Distillery Capacity (Ethanol) from 150 KLPD to 250 KLPD at Barkatpur plant of the company.
Uttam Sugar Mills is planning to add 100 KLPD of Ethanol by December 2023 and the company is planning to invest Rs. 56 crore.
The project cost will be financed through internal accruals and loans under the interest subvention scheme of Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India.
The Central Government is encouraging mixing of ethanol with fuel as the same is eco-friendly & saves foreign exchange for the country. Keeping in view the government's policy and increased demand of Ethanol at national level, the company has decided to increase/enhance the Distillery capacity (Ethanol) at Barkatpur Plant of the company.
The company is planning to add cane crushing capacity by 2,450 TCD from the present cane crushing capacity of 23,750 TCD. Proposed investment is to the tune of Rs. 40 crore which will be financed through internal accrual.
Keeping in view the increased yield and sugar content in the cane as a result of intensive "Cane Development Programme" undertaken by the company, the company has decided to install the balancing equipment to take care of additional cane availability and higher sucrose content in cane.
This shall result in improvement in operating performance and energy efficiency of the plants in operating as well as capacity enhancement.
