WABAG wins Delhi Jal Board order for wastewater treatment plant in Mitraon

The order covers the design, engineering, construction, and commissioning (EPC) of a 17 MGD wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Mitraon


VA TECH WABAG, a leading pure-play water technology Indian multinational group, has secured a medium-value Design, Build, Operate (DBO) contract from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) for a major wastewater infrastructure project in the capital.
 
The order covers the design, engineering, construction, and commissioning (EPC) of a 17 MGD wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Mitraon, along with a sludge dewatering facility, pumping stations, and associated piping works. Once commissioned, the facility will transition into a 15-year operation and maintenance (O&M) phase under WABAG.
 
The project is scheduled for completion within 21 months and is positioned as a key step in strengthening Delhi’s long-term water sustainability and environmental resilience. It will deploy advanced, modern, and sustainable treatment technologies aimed at improving urban sanitation and contributing to cleaner waterways. 
 
The design also incorporates odour control systems, green landscaping, and energy-efficient operations to ensure reliable and sustainable performance, reflecting a future-ready approach to integrated wastewater management and urban development.
 
Post commissioning, WABAG will continue to operate and maintain the plant for 15 years, ensuring long-term performance and operational stability.
