This long-term partnership aims to better support the industrial green hydrogen market
Vallourec, a leader in premium tubular solutions, has signed an MoU with energy technology company Baker Hughes to advance green hydrogen storage. The partnership combines Vallourec’s certified Delphy underground storage with Baker Hughes’ compression technology to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support industrial decarbonization, including applications in green steel and ammonia.
This long-term partnership aims to better support the industrial green hydrogen market—spanning green steel, sustainable fuels, and ammonia—alongside clean energy needs for data centres. By integrating Vallourec’s Delphy storage with Baker Hughes’ compression technology, the duo will optimize pressure and storage configurations. This collaboration is designed to sharpen customer competitiveness by significantly lowering the total cost of ownership.
Delphy is Vallourec’s certified, market-ready vertical underground storage for up to 100 tons of green hydrogen, offering high-pressure performance and a minimal footprint. Partnering with Baker Hughes, this turnkey solution integrates advanced compression to enhance safety and efficiency, accelerating Vallourec’s role in the green hydrogen value chain.
Philippe Guillemot, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Vallourec commented: “We are proud to initiate this collaboration with Baker Hughes, a recognized leader in compression technology. Our capabilities are highly complementary, particularly as Baker Hughes holds strong expertise in compression, a critical step before the storage of compressed hydrogen. This cooperation confirms Vallourec’s strategy to develop relationships along the value chain and commitment to bringing green hydrogen, at scale, for industry decarbonization.”
