International industrial services provider Bilfinger has been selected to join a consortium tasked with delivering the prefabrication, assembly, and installation of plant components for bp’s new green hydrogen electrolyzer. 

 

With a planned capacity of 100 megawatts, the facility is set to become bp’s largest green hydrogen plant and the first fully owned and operated by the energy giant.

 

Once operational, the plant is expected to produce up to 11,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027, with electricity supplied entirely from renewable sources. The hydrogen produced will feed industrial customers through the hydrogen core network and support the neighboring refinery in producing lower-emission fuels.

 

Bilfinger, drawing on decades of hydrogen expertise, will handle prefabrication, assembly, and installation of piping and plant components, thermal and cold insulation, and HVAC systems. At peak periods, over 200 Bilfinger specialists will work on site.

Beyond the bp project, Bilfinger is actively supporting the transformation of the city of Lingen into a leading hydrogen hub in Germany.
