Metacon AB has been selected as the supplier for a green hydrogen project involving the development of a 7.5 MW electrolysis plant for Elektra Power SRL (Elektra) in Romania. The total contract value is approximately EUR 7.1 million, equivalent to around SEK 77.8 million at the current exchange rate. The project is pending the completion and signing of the final contractual agreement, a process which will commence shortly in collaboration with the customer.

The plant will be based on pressurized alkaline electrolyzer technology, delivered in partnership with Metacon’s strategic partner, PERIC Hydrogen Technology, based in Handan, China. In addition to the electrolyzers, the scope includes auxiliary equipment necessary for full plant operation.

Christer Wikner, President and CEO of Metacon, commented: “I am very pleased to announce this first contract award for Metacon in the Romanian market. It is yet another strong endorsement of our ability to deliver proven and cost-effective hydrogen production solutions tailored to various customer needs and regional conditions. We look forward to working closely with the Elektra Group, a recognized energy pioneer, on this important project.”

Dan Oproescu, Managing Director of Elektra Power SRL, added: “We see strong long-term potential for green hydrogen in Romania as a key component of the future energy and fuel mix. We are pleased to partner with Metacon on this forward-looking initiative.”
