Indian Chemical News (ICN), an online news media covering Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Energy sector is organizing a session on ‘Building Mega Plants in Green Hydrogen Ecosystem’ at The Leela, Mumbai on July 9, 2026 to deliberate on how India can leverage policy support, innovation, and strategic partnerships to build a globally competitive green hydrogen ecosystem.

The session is a part of 2-day long NextGen Chemicals & Petrochemicals Summit 2026 organized by ICN on July 9-10, 2026, under the theme "REACT. CREATE. INNOVATE.”

Industry professionals interested in participating can Register for the conference at:

Recognized as one of India's premier leadership platforms for the chemicals, petrochemicals, and energy sectors, the summit will bring together C-suite executives, policymakers, technology innovators, investors, and industry experts to deliberate on strategies that will define the next phase of industrial growth.

The Indian chemical industry is a primary driver for domestic green hydrogen adoption. Transitioning from fossil-fuel-based grey hydrogen to green hydrogen at a "mega plant" scale presents unprecedented engineering, financial, and regulatory challenges.

The session, 'Building Mega Plants in Green Hydrogen Ecosystem', will discuss how India's chemical industry can accelerate the transition from grey to green hydrogen by developing world-scale production facilities, scaling gigawatt-capacity plants, strengthening electrolyzer manufacturing, overcoming cost and infrastructure barriers, and fostering strategic partnerships to build a globally competitive, low-carbon chemical ecosystem.

The discussion focuses on: Scaling up to gigawatt mega-plants; Bridging the cost and viability gap; Electrolyzer supply chain and indigenous manufacturing; Captive demand creation and decarbonization pathways; and Regulatory frameworks and trade barriers.

Speakers include Bharati Panigrahy, Senior Scientist - Research & Development, HPCL; Kerban Rajdeo, Director, FTI Consulting and Samir Saxena, VP – Engineering, Green Hydrogen Business, Renew. The session will be moderated Pravin Prashant, Executive Editor, Indian Chemical News.
