How is Ron Pure navigating current global supply chain volatility while maintaining its status as a leading chemical distributor in India?

Supply chain volatility has become a normal part of the global chemical business. Our strength is our wide sourcing network, strong supplier relationships, pan-India presence, warehousing capability, and local stock planning.

We try to anticipate demand, maintain critical inventory, and reduce lead time for customers. We also use market intelligence and digital systems to track demand, pricing, availability, and logistics movement.

Our focus is to ensure that customers receive consistent supply even during uncertain periods. Safety and compliance are also very important, especially in hazardous chemical handling. We believe reliability during difficult market conditions is one of the reasons customers continue to trust Pon Pure.

What major market trends do you see impacting chemical distributors in India over the next five years?

Over the next five years, chemical distributors in India will be shaped by several major trends. Customers will demand faster delivery, better documentation, safer handling, regulatory compliance, and technical support. Digital platforms will also play a larger role in procurement, inventory planning, and customer service. Another important trend is the shift towards specialty chemicals and sustainable products.

Distributors can no longer remain only as intermediaries. They must become solution providers with strong warehousing, quality, logistics, compliance, and technical capabilities. Companies that invest in technology, safety, sustainability, and customer intimacy will have a clear advantage.

Pon Pure Chemicals has successfully transitioned from a distribution-focused model to a significant manufacturer of specialty chemicals. What were the biggest cultural and operational hurdles during this shift?

The shift from distribution to manufacturing required a major change in mindset. Distribution is mainly about sourcing, inventory, logistics, and customer service but manufacturing requires process discipline, quality systems, safety culture, technical capability, plant efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The biggest cultural challenge was helping our teams move beyond supply chain, adopt a stronger value-creation mindset. The operational challenge was to build the right systems, R&D capability, production processes, quality controls, and safety practices.

We addressed this step by step through training, investment in people, standard operating procedures, and stronger cross-functional teamwork. Today, this transition has made us more resilient and more valuable to customers.
